Placement of Transaction Services Manager, Top 4 Accountancy Firm, Midlands

Overview:

The candidate was in their final year of their training contract at the first stages of communication with Adlestrop Consulting. Whilst they were happy in their current position, they were keen to understand the opportunities within local industries and practice which may be available over the next 1 to 5 years.

Process:

At a time when the candidate was not ready to move, Adlestrop provided guidance in CV writing and specifically recommended they included project experience from the last 12-18 months to demonstrate their deals and sector experience.

Adlestrop also advised that the candidate was more demanding of their line manager to get a broader exposure of deals and to pursue areas of interest. During this time, it was also important that Adlestrop remained in regular contact with the candidate but only on terms that they had agreed.

“I was not bombarded by weekly job vacancies but instead received a couple of job specifications which were in line with my sector expertise and role descriptions we had previously discussed.”

Once the candidate felt ready to pursue new opportunities Adlestrop were there to offer support and guidance.

“When I decided I was ready to move, Adlestrop spent the time understanding my reasons for wanting to move and my latest thoughts on my ideal role.

It was evident that Adlestrop understood the market and emphasised with my requirements for a new role (including people culture). They made contact with companies I was interested in finding out more about but whom were not actively recruiting.”

With each stage of the process, Adlestrop ensured that they were there for every step, from arranging interviews to CV and interview prep:

“Throughout the process they took the hassle out of arranging meetings and interview timings. They were also very discreet and available for calls outside of the standard office hours. Adlestrop were timely in providing interview preparation advice (including background of interviewers) and in getting feedback from the interviews and assessments I attended.”

When it came the offer and resignation stage, our candidate was in the fortunate position of receiving multiple offers. It was important for Adlestrop to then offer guidance for the candidate’s decision and next steps.

“Adlestrop helped me to rank the different roles according to the areas I considered the most important, such as client strategy, work-life balance and sector focus. They liaised with the offering companies to give me time to consider the different positions and communicate my responses.”

Result:

As a result, the candidate is confident that the next step is right for their personal and career ambitions.

“When I initially met Adlestrop I completely dismissed the idea of moving to another firm in Practice, but with their guidance and contacts I had the opportunities to meet directors and partners within other Big 6 to find the company that matched my sector interests and would provide long term career development. I am very excited for my new position and to join a new team which places collaboration at the heart of its client strategy.”
