Placement of Private Client Tax Assistant Manager, Top 4 Firm, Midlands

Overview:

The candidate had just finished their final ACA exams and for the last four years had been working at a small niche tax practice. Whilst they enjoyed working there and had formed some great relationships with the staff and partners, there were some elements of the job that they were beginning to dislike. They were keen to understand what opportunities were out there and to find out more about what could work for them.

Process:

At the start of the process, Adlestrop wanted to ensure that the candidate felt comfortable and confident that they could help guide them in their next career move. After finding out the candidate’s needs, Adlestrop presented them with some opportunities that fitted their criteria.

“They made me aware of the number of opportunities out there and the numerous routes to take without making me feel overwhelmed. Working at a small firm I was unsure where I could move from without doing something very similar to my current role. Their advice and knowledge gave me the motivation and ambition for the future.”

During this time, Adlestrop stayed in regular contact with the candidate to make sure that they were fully informed.

“The contact was regular but by no means pressurising, which is what I had found from other recruiters. I was not bombarded with jobs or pressured which was really refreshing. It helped to build a relationship for when the time was right and I knew I could trust Adlestrop to find something that suited me.”

Once the candidate felt ready to move on, they approached Adlestrop to assist them through the next steps.

“I came to Adlestrop because I really appreciated the soft approach right from the beginning. My worst nightmare was to be placed into a job that I could not perform as a result of a recruiter not listening to or understanding my background. It is suffocating the amount of job descriptions, emails and phone calls you get from many companies and it is clear that they do not have the candidate as their priority.”

From this, Adlestrop then assisted the candidate through each stage, from helping out with their CV, to offering advice regarding any of the options. They then lined up various chats and interviews with different firms and always ensured that they prepared the candidate beforehand. In addition to this, they sent numerous emails with all the information that they would require on the companies which in turn helped to give the candidate a good indication of what they were looking for and what questions would be asked.

After numerous interviews and meetings, the candidate was delighted to receive an offer at a Top 4 firm and was keen to accept. It was important that Adlestrop continued to provide support at this time to make sure that the process ran as smoothly as possible for the candidate and the client.

"Adlestrop dealt with everything for me which is great. They kept me updated during the whole process. When the offer came through, they gave their honest advice and opinion and ensured everything ran as smoothly as possible.”

Result:

As a result, the candidate is confident that the next step is right for them and their career ambitions going forward…

“Whilst I was unsure at first if I would be able to make the jump to a big 4 after coming from a small background, I was confident that I could trust Adlestrop to sell me for me and as a result I am confident in my role. I would definitely recommend them to anybody and would not consider using another company in the future.”
