Placement of an Audit Senior, Top 15 Firm, Midlands

Overview:

The candidate was first introduced to Adlestrop a number of years ago when they had started working in their graduate job and although the candidate was not looking to move, they remained in contact.

However, more recently, the candidate was looking for some advice. They had been given a new job title with no change in salary, and they were concerned that they were being underpaid in the role. The individual had some frustrations with their employer and was contemplating moving firms.

Process:

At the time when the candidate was not in a position to move, Adlestrop remained in touch to catch up and see how they were doing. This meant that as soon as the candidate was in need of advice and considering a change, Adlestrop were the first and only recruiter that they contacted.

“Adlestrop’s approach was unique. They never contacted me with the view to getting me to apply for a particular job. Most recruiters contact me about a specific job and the emails are very forceful and they are desperate to talk on the phone. A lot of recruiters have standard emails they just copy and paste. Adlestrop never did that which is why I always responded to their emails. The other recruiters were ignored.”

When the candidate was contemplating a move, they remained exclusive to Adlestrop.

“Adlestrop wasn’t forceful and listened to what I had to say. They were also very knowledgeable about the local firms. I didn’t see any benefit from involving other recruiters.”

They arranged to meet up with the candidate to listen to their frustrations. The candidate wasn’t aware of the opportunities and local firms so Adlestrop provided all the information they needed.

“Adlestrop gave me an overview of the local firms and who did what. They also discussed the Birmingham market. They gave a lot of good advice and food for thought.”

Adlestrop then contacted the candidate a few weeks later to inform them that they were meeting with a firm that may be of interest and if they could take the candidates CV with them. Following this meeting, the firm was interested in seeing the candidate so an informal chat was arranged.

Prior to the candidate meeting with the firm, Adlestrop called the candidate to offer useful advice and tips on what to expect. Following the meeting, the firm were keen to offer the candidate a new role. When it came to receiving the offer, Adlestrop helped to negotiate terms that best suited the candidate’s needs.

“Adlestrop gave details of the remuneration package and were prepared to contact the firm with my queries. There was an issue in that my employment contract set the notice period at 3 months and my new employers wasn’t prepared to wait that long for. Adlestrop were very supportive in the process of asking my employer when that notice period would be. Once I had decided to accept the role, Adlestrop were there to guide me through the process of resigning. They also kept in touch whilst I was working out my notice.”

Result:

The candidate is confident that the next step is the right one for both their personal and career ambitions.

“I would happily use Adlestrop again and would highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a new job or wants some advice about their current role.”
