My journey into law didn’t follow the traditional route. I knew from a young age that I wanted to work in law, but I also knew that the conventional route of university followed by a training contract wasn’t the right fit for me.
Instead, I began my career at 16 as an office junior in a local law firm. That early experience gave me insight into various areas of law, but it was probate work that really sparked my interest.
Going the extra mile
From the outset, I was driven by a strong work ethic and a desire to keep learning. Throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate to work with people who trusted me with responsibility, and I always tried to make the most of those opportunities. While working full time, I studied towards my CILEX qualification, which helped me build the knowledge and experience I needed to progress.
That commitment eventually led me to a national firm specialising in probate, where I progressed from fee earner into a leadership role. That move broadened my perspective and taught me a great deal about team support, structure, and the value of continuous development.
Taking the next step to Redkite
When the opportunity came to join Redkite, I was drawn to the firm’s focus on nurturing careers at every level. What stood out was the clarity of progression and the supportive environment - development is paced to reflect people’s readiness, not just organisational need. That approach creates space for genuine growth and avoids the pressures that can come with premature promotion.
One of the most rewarding parts of my current role is working alongside others as they shape their own paths. I’ve recently had the chance to support a colleague in developing their plan for partnership, which also included helping them nurture emerging talent within their team. There’s a strong culture here of investing time in one another’s development, and that makes a real difference.
The pace of growth across Redkite’s offices and teams feels just right. We’re welcoming fantastic new people - whether just starting out or bringing years of experience - while continuing to develop and recognise those who’ve long been part of the team. It’s a balance that sets us apart.
What defines Redkite for our people and clients?
At its core, Redkite remains rooted in its community-focused values, while also embracing a forward-thinking approach to modern legal practice. That combination enables us to focus on what really matters: meaningful relationships with clients and colleagues alike.
It’s a firm where people are supported, valued, and given the opportunity to thrive - wherever they are in their careers.
