The dust is beginning to settle following the recent result of the EU referendum and as expected, many varied opinions are being formed. Having had time to reflect on the situation, we have gathered some initial thoughts on present and future recruitment activity within the Accountancy and Legal sectors. Perhaps, the most significant trend that we are witnessing is that the level of activity across all sizes of firms and companies is still high and looks set to continue over the coming months.

It is evident to see that the fundamental issues across the board pre the decision to leave the EU still remain. Succession planning still needs to be tackled and teams generally seem to be stretched and over worked due to lack of depth. Following one of the longest recessions, the key topic of conversation over the past 2 years has been around the lack of talent that is available across several different markets alongside a real shortage of qualified professionals due to under investment in recruiting individuals in the sector and the lack of internal training to develop future leaders.

After meeting a high number of our clients over the last few weeks, recruitment is still very much on the agenda despite what the general media is reporting. Furthermore, we continue to work with career focussed and highly talented accountants, lawyers and business development professionals across the market on an exclusive basis - many who are keen and open to making a career move. Due to this, we are continuing to build and develop our exclusive pool of passive and active candidates

With a new PM in place, the FTSE and £ are up from the low of the day after the result, business is at least starting to get some political certainty slightly earlier than anticipated and this can only be good news for overall business confidence.

We're not just saying this because we're recruiters, but we really think you should take advantage of the current market conditions and recruit whilst there are more high quality candidates around. If you are not in a position to recruit straight away, then we can help you by assembling a short list of suitable candidates so that you can position yourself once your situation changes.
